The Scene
St. Andrews Cafe sits on the campus of the Culinary Institute of America, the Harvard of cooking. The open-space floor plan is bordered by grand picture windows offering views of the campus courtyard, as well as the bustling kitchen. Large bamboo chairs provide comfort in the midst of a grand fireplace. Outdoor dining is seasonally available, and a separate chef's table in the kitchen for private gatherings seats eight.
The Food
Health conscious new American cuisine ranges from wood-fired pizzas and specialty sandwiches to entrees with Pan-Asian flair, including pan-seared salmon served with an orange-soy glaze, edamame and shiitake mushrooms. Like the school's other restaurants, St. Andrews is a testing ground for students, and is also known for its seasonal liqueurs, ciders and aperitifs.
