Kingston >Stella's Italian Restaurant
STEELLA ITALIEN FEST AND THE RESTAURANT.
Well, for us it wasnt that great. So sorry...but it wasnt my peppers were dried my sauce looked and tasted like maybe they just ran out and opened up a can of sauce . ,drink was excellent, the salad however
WAS TO DIE FOR . Maybe a bad day for the restaurant,I dont know.
NOW I Went to their 2007 Italien fest in Saugerties, wonderful, food was amazing, they had their great sald, food kept coming,NO PROBLEM............WELL DO NO GROSS OUT.........................
THE GUY WHO COOKED STEAKED ALL DAY... .. HIS, NOSE, STARTED RUNNING,DRIPPING,HE WAS SWEATING,YES ,OH YES,IT WAS COMING DOWN !HE COULDNT WIPE FAST ENOUGH,,,,I ALMOST GOT SICK,AND I SAID SOMETHING TO HIM ,,AH YEAH HE IGNORED ME AND CONTINUED ON..
AM I GOING THIS YEAR AT 45.00 A TICKET AH NO!
THE PROBLEMS THEY HAD WERE , TO SMALL OF A PLATE, THE BAND PLAYED RIGHT AT THE TABLE
SO YOU COULDNT EVEN HEAR ANYTHING NO MATTER WHERE YOU WENT.
WE WENT TO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING AND IT DIDNT TAKE LONG FOR PEOPLE TO FOLLOW
AND OF COURSE NO PLACE TO SIT SO YOU HAD TO GO BACK TO THE TABLE WHERE THE BAND WAS PRACTICALLY PLAYING ON.
THERE WAS ONE BATHROOM ,ON THE SIDE OF THIS BUILDING FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED THIS ,,,AH YEAH IT WAS QUITE A PROBLEM..I'LL PASS THIS YEAR,.
I DO HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR THEM THOUGH JUST INVEST IN A COUPLE MASK FOR YOUR SERVERS ,,,,THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE......JUST IN CASE THEY HAVE PROBLEMS ,OR ALLERGIES,,A BOX OF GLOVES AT THE DOLLER TREE IS A SAFE INVESTMENT TO...JUST $1 IS ALL IT TAKES....
Try it for yourself. I've dined at Stella's many times in the past. I have always enjoyed the home style Italian food. The great food you get there is like no other. The salad is to die for. As well as the baked stuffed clams. I could go on with a long list of great items on the menu as well as the specials. It is a small cozy restaurant that seems to have a lot of regulars. That adds to the quaint warm feeling you have while dining there. I noticed in the window a plaque that voted them "Most Romantic" in the Hudson Valley. My last visit I over heard a Gentleman telling the owner that he read a review on this web page. He seemed to be bothered by what he read. My curiosity got the best of me. I had to read it for myself. I can not believe what a writer wrote. "Cahilla" does not know the damage that may have been caused by her untruthfulness. I would love to see her blog removed as it is not a fair or true review. This is a small town restaurant that is family owned and operated. Is it fair to them? I appeal to the people who read this web site. Try Stella's for yourself you be the judge! You will not be sorry.
Best in Show. I stumbled upon this web site. I was applaud by the unfavorable reviews. It occurred to me that this was people with a personal grudge. I have been a customer for about 8 years now. I have never had a bad experience. The service has always been friendly. The food has always been top notch. I have not been able to find an Italian restaurant in Kingston with such delicious home mad Italian food. The food is prepared by the owner with love daily. You are always greeted with a warm smile. When you eat there you feel as if you were in your Grandmothers kitchen. I have never had a bad experience there as well as my whole family. I wonder how much business they loose due to these lies written by some one with such evil in their bones.
A True Dining Delight. I have been frequenting Stella's for about eight years now, and still have yet to find a more satisfying Italian meal. The owners are friendly, the service is impeccable, and no matter what you choose from the menu, or the long list of specials, you are guaranteed to leave feeling satisfied, and full of course. As for the atmosphere, it is a cozy little restaurant that always makes me feel at home. I have traveled and eaten at a variety of different restaurants, but always seem to find myself wanting to go to Stella's for the salad, appetizers, entrees, and of course, dessert.
Best home-style Italian food in Kingston. I am one of the 'regulars' the last reviewer spoke of. Why is the place packed with so many 'regulars'? Because Stella's is the best! If the food wasn't great, why would the place be full almost every night they're open? It's cozy, the service is great and very personal. The salad and breadbasket are both as copious as they are delicious. Entrees are the same way -- I especially enjoy their chicken dishes, which I find are often less spectacular at other Italian restaurants. Expect to find all your Italian favorites as well as a long list of specials. I can't vouch for the desserts as I'm always too full, but I have tried the tiramisu and found it to be delicious. You can't go wrong with Stellas -- it's homemade Italian goodness, not a five-star restaurant with uniformed and coiffed man-servants. In fact, why am I even writing this review? Leave it to the regulars! Tourists beware!
Nice start, but something was lost on the way.
The smell of the joint as you walk in was quite promising, and the intimate seating area (while a little dark) was welcoming tonight, but the food went rapidly downhill. Service was slow, and we were kept waiting for one of the (few) empty seats for a little longer than was necessary for the hostess spent a lot of time chatting with regulars, but if the food is good...
Starters were a typical bruschetta and an interesting hummus with fresh bread and purchased breadsticks. The simple house salad was quite heavenly, served family style in a large bowl with the taste of fresh garlic and large pieces of blue cheese. My vegetarian stuffed pepper was pretty good, and the marinara sauce over al dente spaghetti was the best thing served next to the salad, but the beef stuffed pepper off the menu was served cold in the center and was unseasoned, and the side dish (mash potatoes) never made it to the table.
We spent a lot of time sitting, waiting for someone to ask to help us, but we felt marooned. Nobody seemed to be ordering dessert, and many of them were regulars, and we had been in there for some time, so we took their cue and took our leave. Why a veg stuffed pepper would cost more than a beef one, I don't understand; I'm not convinced that you get value for your money here.
If you want a really excellent salad and dish of pasta with marinara sauce with a bottle of wine, we would think of this place. It has great potential, but perhaps there isn't enough communication in the kitchen or someone isn't tasting what they are serving, or they have just too many dishes on the menu.
