Favorite Kingston Bar!...Bar None !.
I Just Love Snappers, it's a friendly little dive in uptown Kingston, covered in old pulp magazine art & pinup girls with the scent of stale beer it seems more like a lower Manhattan gin mill than a catskill region bar.
The satff has alway's been very gracious, it has an amazing Jukebox, best in Kingston by far, and I have never seen any trouble, what I have been surprised to see is some of the best live rock acts ever (do more shows Snappers ! ) and it gets my vote as the best bar in Kingston...bar none!
best bar around period.
I am a 27 year old woman from Boston. and I am madly in love with this bar. it's a gritty edgy little joint with the best juke box, best staff, and the best live music of any bar for miles and miles around, I alway's feel safe and welcome, and highly recomend you visit this establishment, where the bartenders are friendly and generous, two big thumbs up from the girl from Boston
best pub & best juke box around, no doubt!!.
Snapper Magees, a very cool and comfortable joint, this place is really for everyone I have been a semi regular for about four years now and have seen all types of people hanging out and having a good time, from the blue collar working guy's to drag queens to off duty cops and lots of punk / indie / rockabilly types.
it's a hip little joint that draws top notch bands, they dont do shows every weekend for some reason, but maybe they dont, to keep the quality up? I dont know? never saw a fight either they seem to very good about that.
It's all downhill from here.
Wow. I used to drink at Snapper's a good deal. Only punk jukebox around, and there was a great rock n' roll crowd. They even did some fantastic monthly shows. Maybe it just got old for me, but this summer at Snapper's seemed to mark the end of the bar's golden era. It was always a dive, but now it's in the deep end. This could in part be contributed to the opening of much nicer bars nearby (Elephant and Keegan Ales, primarily) but there are other factors. Overzealous security is a complaint I hear a lot -- this bar draws a lot of bad drunks and they are constantly being forced out, but regulars have to watch what they say around certain 'friends of the bar' or risk ejection simply based on not being liked. If you're a true punk or rock and roller, I think you'll like Snappers for a night or two. I simply can't watch the management bungle the place anymore, so I'm drinking down the street from now on.
Best jukebox joint!.
This is a bar featuring regulars, a happy hour, the best juke for miles (if you like rock & roll & punk), a great beer selection, and some really swell bartenders. There are darts, a foosball machine, and entertaining evening clientele. Occasional special events, very sporadic live music. You never know who might pop in... Say hello to Elvis.
