great service very happy – I took my car to a chain store to have a nail in my tire/flat repaired. They told me i would have to buy a new tire; it couldn't be fixed. and of course it wouldn't be just one new tire - they'd have to sell me a pair.
Without saying anything to STS, i brought my car in and they not only fixed the flat, they did it cheaper than the other place would have done it if they said they could do it.
I've gotten all my service here for years and recommend them highly - they give options on prices and are generally very helpful.
STS is not the place to have your car fixed – I recently went to STS because my engine was miss -firing and and not running smoothly. They said I needed a $350 tune up. They replaced the parts and could not get the car restarted. They told me that the engine probably needed to be rebuilt and that would cost about $2000 to fix. I told them that was not going to happen. O wait, the next day they called me back and told me what I needed was a $400 fuel pump. This would definitely get the car running and I OKed the work. Another day passes and they still can't get it running. O wait, it now needs a resistor for the distributor. I said replace the resistor. A day later they call and say the car is finally running. When I go back, I'm thinking that I really didn't need the fuel pump at all, and I ask to see the old pump to check out if it was really defective. Guess what, they couldn't find my fuel pump, it somehow disappeared from the dumpster. The mechanics at this shop are incompetent at best or downright dishonest. Do yourself a favor and avoid this shop.
Honest people quality work – I have been using STS for my car repairs for many years.Only once did I have a problem with a new part and they replaced it right away. Even new parts are occasionally bad. I highly reccomend them.
STS TIRE & AUTO CENTER – Had a terrible experience with STS, Kingston NY. When my alternator was replaced at their garage only three weeks ago, I found myself stranded with their defective alternator in Bridgeport, CT this Sunday. STS had put a rebuilt alternator in my car, which I had not asked for and after contacting them and getting a mechanic to look over the alternator, in Bridgeport, STS's manager ED assured the me and the mechanic there, that he would cover ALL expenses to get me back on the road. The work was done and I returned to the STS with my bill from the shop in Bridgeport, and Ed refused to pay for the entire bill. He said that the mechanic had put a new alternator in my car and it was $100.00 more than the rebuilt alternator had cost so, he wouldn't pay for the difference in price. He asked his district manager, Mike and he also declined the bill. I mentioned that, the work had been guaranteed to be paid by the STS manager and that I had taken three days off from work to deal with this situation and that I just wanted them to be responsible for what they promised to pay. They had not told the mechanic to put a rebuilt part into my car, or that they would only pay a "capped amount". They told me to take their offer to pay the bill minus the cost difference between the faulty rebuilt and the new alternator, or file a small claims suit so, I have decided to take them to court and will include ALL of my out of pocket expenses. Do not use this company, they are untrustworthy, and their workmanship is questionable!
