Warm, relaxing atmosphere in a gorgeous setting

by dianebd

Just spent a weekend there, and it was an amazingly relaxing and spirit-nourishing experience. There are lots of places you can go, though few have the scenic, tranquil setting the Copperhood does. This place was special, not just because of the gorgeous setting, but because of the warmth and hospitality of the owner -- and she has apparently made it a point to bring in other people like herself. Picture a weekend in a warm, gracious and impeccably clean European household, but with the addition of expert beauty treatments administered by a genuinely warm and welcoming staff. The facilities included everything one would expect in a spa, heated pool, gym, jacuzzi, etc. The food is great too, and there's a pretty decent wine list. What made this place something special was the people. Every single person my equally city-stressed friend and I dealt with there was marvellous. If you're after pretentiousness and glitz, this is probably not the place you want, but if you want to spend a day (or a week) someplace that will allow you relax completely in an intimate and highly individualized atmosphere (they accomodate only about 20 guests at a time).....go!

  • Pros: incredible atmosphere, warm and gracious
  • Cons: some of the amenities are less than new

Loved this place -- reminded me of Europe

by divainthecity

I spent 4 days at the spa with Max, my best friend. We both loved it. It reminded me of the places we used to stay with my family on Cinque Terre in Italy. Beautiful details, fresh, delicious meals, amazing views. Great wine, too. I had a wonderful facial and two SUBLIME massages. I did not feel like going back to yoga in my downtown gym after doing yoga with the sound and view of the creek. I wasn't that into the hikes and I only went once (I admit I don't love exercise) but Max went everyday and loved it. He also swam for hours in the huge pool while I went from sauna, steam room, jacuzzi...

  • Pros: Food, Views, Spa Services
  • Cons: Far away, no where to go nearby, set meal times

A European-style inn and spa tucked away in alpine splendor.

by Contributor

The Scene
The spa boasts an indoor lap pool, seven treatment rooms, seasoned masseurs, a fencing instructor and a yoga studio. As for the tennis court, it sits on an island reached by a hanging bridge. You can also enjoy guided hikes, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. A great room looks out onto the nearby creek and mountain and is a great setting for a wedding, banquet or conference.

The Details
The tribute to Louis XVI style is evidenced in the ornate headboards, fancy writing desks, striped chairs and gold-leafed paintings. Never mind that this is a spa in the most modern sense and in the most natural setting--the incongruity should make you smile, if nothing else. Each room has something different to offer, be it a Jacuzzi tub, bidet or oak banister staircase.

BEST EVER!!

by fch

The Copperhood with it's wonderful view is the best. The atmosphere at the Copperhood is so relaxing and the food

is absolutely wonderfull!I've stayed at the Emerson, but I must say that the streamside view and the private island

is better at the Copperhood.I'll give people that wants to rest in peace and quiet

and go on a nice hike or workout to go to the Copperhood!!!!

The price with everything that is included makes it a real bargain...

  • Pros: , food,view
  • Cons: , just perfect

Competent but Overpriced

by jnyc

With rates that rival The Emerson, we expected well appointed rooms, gourmet food, and a luxurious spa. The room was most disappointing, furnished with kitschy 70's decor. I suspect some rooms have been renovated. The food was good, but at a rate of $285/day I expected more. Part of this price includes a $45 credit daily to the spa. My manicure/pedicure was $110, again it was good but not worth the price. We were too late to book at The Emerson. Next time we will book far in advance to make sure we get the most for our money.
